HOW TO GET A FREE UPGRADE On your Windows® Desktop click the Robot Lawyer™ icon to launch Robot Lawyer™. On the Robot Lawyer Desktop™ click the Setup button. Robot Lawyer™ opens its Setup window. In the Setup window click the Upgrade tab. In the Upgrade tab click the Upgrade button. Robot Lawyer™ checks to see if an upgrade is available here on the Robot Lawyer™ website. If one is here, Robot Lawyer™ asks if you want to upgrade the version of the program you're currently using. Click Yes. Robot Lawyer™ backs up your law practice data, shuts down the current version you're running and opens a download dialog. Depending on your browser, a dialog box will open allowing you to save the Robot Lawyer™ setup file to a folder of your choice. The name of the setup file is lawyer_setup.exe. You may want to jot down the name of the folder so you don't forget it. If no upgrade exists, Robot Lawyer™ tells you that you're using the current version. Click OK and Robot Lawyer™ returns you to where you were. Select the folder where you want to save the setup file and click the Save. Robot Lawyer™ will download its setup file to your computer. The download process may take several minutes depending on the speed of your Internet connection. When the download process is complete, close your browser. On your Windows® Desktop display your folders. You can do this by right-clicking Start and choosing Explore. Or, if you don't see the Explore command, chose the Run command. Windows® will open a dialog box and ask the name of the program. Type "Explorer" and click OK. Windows® will display your folders. Find the setup file in the folder you chose to download it. Open the setup file. (You can do this by double-clicking it.) Robot Lawyer™ will launch its install program and install Robot Lawyer™ Follow the install program prompts. The install program installs the upgraded version of the Robot Lawyer™. When installation is complete, the install program tells you Robot Lawyer™ has been successfully installed and checks the option letting you launch Robot Lawyer™ immediately after exiting the install program. Leave the option checked and exit the install program. Launch (or let the install program automatically launch) the upgraded version of Robot Lawyer™ It opens a dialog telling you it will restore your practice data in the new version. Click OK. Robot Lawyer™ restores your practice data in the upgraded version of the program. HERE'S WHAT HAPPENS      When Robot Lawyer™ installed itself on your computer, it created the folder C:Program FilesRobot LawyerBackup. When you ask for the upgrade, Robot Lawyer™ saves your practice data in the files backup.fp7 and upgrade.fp7 in its Backup folder. The program then downloads the upgrade installer program lawyer_setup.exe residing here on the company server. When you run the upgrade and launch Robot Lawyer™, the program will automatically inform you that it will now restore your backed-up practice data. Of course, unless there are unusual circumstances, you'll always tell it to do so.      When your browser asks if you want to run or save its setup file, you can choose to save the setup file and run it at a later time. When you eventually choose to run the upgraded version of Robot Lawyer™, the program will still tell you that it is going to restore your practice data to its new version. Click OK to tell it to so.      If the version of Robot Lawyer™ residing here on the server is the same as the version you're currently using, the program informs you of that fact and returns you to where you were working in the program.      If you need assistance or have any questions, please call Technical Support at (888) 762-6529
